Mid winters day and the sun hangs low
With the nights closing in my thoughts are turning to home
Of feasts and warm fires, friend and relations
Soon well be drinking and raising good cheer
Beneath a star that twinkles above the lights that divine
Christmas tree bedazzled children beguiled
While the solstice bell rings the passing year
Chimes out our hopes for the coming of the new
